Who Is This Course For?

  •  Want to pursue fire fighting as a full-time career
  •  Need recognised qualifications to apply for fire fighter vacancies
  •  Are prepared to work in dangerous, high-pressure environments
  •  Can take direction and work effectively as part of a team

What Will You Learn?

Fire Fighter 1 builds your foundation. Through a mix of classroom learning, practical drills, and realistic training exercises, you will develop the skills to perform essential fire ground duties safely and effectively — under the supervision of an experienced officer or senior fire fighter.

You will learn how to:

  •  Respond to emergency calls and operate at fire scenes
  •  Handle hoses, nozzles, and firefighting equipment
  •  Perform search and rescue operations in smoke-filled environments
  •  Use ladders and breathing apparatus correctly
  •  Understand fire behaviour, building construction, and safety protocols

Fire Fighter 2 advances your capabilities. You will learn to operate with greater independence and take on more complex responsibilities on the fire ground.

Hazmat Awareness — Included in Your Programme

Emergencies are not limited to fires. Chemical spills, gas leaks, and other hazardous material incidents happen every day. Hazmat Awareness prepares you to be one of the first people on the scene when dangerous substances are involved.

You will learn how to:

  •  Recognise hazardous materials and understand their risks
  •  Protect yourself, the public, and the environment
  •  Take defensive action to contain the situation safely
  •  Follow the international NFPA 470 standard for hazardous materials response

This is not about entering the danger zone — it is about making smart, safe decisions under pressure until specialist teams arrive.

Hazmat Operations — Taking the Next Step

While Hazmat Awareness teaches you to recognise and report, Hazmat Operations trains you to take action.

You will learn how to:

  •  Respond to hazardous materials incidents in a defensive and protective capacity
  •  Use specialised equipment to contain spills and control releases
  •  Establish safety zones and evacuation perimeters
  •  Coordinate with other emergency responders on scene
  •  Apply the NFPA 470 standard at the operations level

This course qualifies you to protect people, property, and the environment from the effects of unplanned hazardous material releases — working safely within your training limits.

How You Will Train

  •  Classroom sessions — theory, safety procedures, and fire science
  •  Drill field practice — hands-on skills in controlled environments
  •  Training evolutions — realistic scenarios that simulate real emergencies

What Qualification Will You Receive?

Upon successful completion, you will hold internationally recognised qualifications that meet employer standards and open doors to professional fire fighting careers.
